Arabian
Nights, secrets of the desert
Fathy and Ahmed are two mans with good smell. Operate a
perfume shop
in the avenue Faysal, not far from the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo. They
stuffed into this business several years. In his trade, Perfume Palace
of the Arabian Nights, certainly suggestive name, have nearly a hundred
flavors, to the delight of tourists. The essences are based on glass
with his name written in Arabic. The list is long. There are fragrances
for every taste.
Both teachers perfumeros offer from essences extracted from a single
flower, such as jasmine, gardenia or narcissus, until the petals formed
by more than 10 flowers different. At first glance, striking perfumes
named after queens of Egypt, as Nefertiti and Cleopatra, or the pharaoh
Tutankamón. Marks not only respond to a marketing strategy.
It is a way to remind foreigners that the perfume was born in Egypt
thousands of years ago.
"Here, everything is natural, pure essence extracted squeeze after the
petals of each flower," says Fathy while positioned on the table
several bottles. "The first thing we ask clients is the perfume or
colony conventionally used. So I know that products are more suited to
their tastes," he adds. Already seated in front is opening up so
ceremoniosa each container. There is no hurry. At wise expert likes to
explain in great detail the attributes of each of the essences.
First sprinkle a drop of lotus flower on the right hand by the
visitors. "It's the flower queen of Egypt, the most widely used in the
Pharaonic era and the star of our business," he says. Then, on the
other hand does the same with a Chanel-style, five flowers whose names
he refuses to disclose. "It is the great secret."
But the real elixir of love under the name Secret Desert, a fragrance
once in the skin flavor changes every five minutes. "It is for women
and men in flavor produces an effect similar to Viagra," whispers the
perfumero. She explains, the magical effect takes place from 12 at
night. "Women should be placed a drop behind each ear. Two more here --
drew the chest -- and the fifth is free choice," he says, releasing a
atronadora laugh.
Ahmed, who sit between laughter, which explains the essences are from
the fields of flowers Fayún, south of Cairo and the Nile
Delta, north. "To get 50 grams is necessary to squeeze more than 5,000
petals," he explains. "You can mix the essences with alcohol. Ratio is
one to nine if you want a perfume and one to 14, a colony." Shops like
that of Ahmed Fathy and there are dozens in Cairo, but note that both
referred to as few fragrances in the country of the Nile.
At the end so essence of a flower on the body does not know that flavor
emerges. And with the purse in his hand and perfumes come out to the
street, Fathy added: "I will explain their experience with the Secret
Desert. Sure that I come back to take a bigger bottle." Who does not
know the sense of humor of the Egyptians, does not know what is lost.
