but was developed and further refined by the Romans and the Arabs.
The word perfume used today derives from the Latin "per fumum", meaning
through smoke. |

world's first chemist was Tapputi, a perfume maker who was
mentioned in a cuneiform from the 2 BC in Mesopotamia
Although perfume and perfumery also existed in East Asia, much of its
fragrances are incense based. |
